I have on my wrist today a Momentus watch that I think is a great example of an aviation themed watch . As this review goes on, I hope you'll understand why I hold this position.

To start things off, this timepiece is crafted from matte finished gunmetal ion plated stainless steel . At first glance, you can see that the color combination between the case and the dark olive green strap is spot on. The case is pretty large measuring in at 47mm (excluding the crown). Even on my 7” wrist, the watch looks amazing – not too big, just perfect. The thickness of the case isn't bad at all, coming in at just 13mm. To be fair, the dimensions of the watch lend to a flat aesthetic on the wrist. It's a very precise combination that is used by some of the best watchmakers of aviation themed timepieces. The strap is held to the wrist by an ardillon buckle made also from gunmetal ion plated stainless steel. The strap features complementary colored saddle stitching, which holds in place the fabric overlay to the leather base. The strap feels good on the wrist, while remaining very fashionable.

The push/pull main crown is ridged for easy handling, and is protected by a crown guard. On either side of the crown at the 2, and 4 positions are the chronograph pushpieces. The caseback is polished stainless steel, with the Momentus emblem in the middle, individual number, and other specifications of the watch. The stationary, single tier, vaulted bezel holds in place the scratch resistant mineral crystal over the dial. Water resistance on this model is rated at 50 meters, which means that this watch is not designed to for aquatic activities but will withstand a light rain shower. Of course, given the nature of the strap it is not recommended to get this watch wet at all.

The dial seems to me to be a nice blend of the gunmetal color of the case, and the dark olive green of the strap. The minute markers and indexes are beige colored, which contrasts nicely with the dark dial. Each of the hands are gunmetal toned with beige toned lume. The chronograph subdials are located at 12 and 6 in a vertical bi-compax layout. The counter at 12 indicates the chronograph seconds, while the counter at 6 displays the chrono-minutes. On an internal dial scale in red are the main hour markers. At 3 is an altimeter inspired date display aperture. The central seconds hand counts the continuous seconds on this timepiece. Powering the Momentus FS245N-05YR is a Japanese made quartz movement caliber VD51. This model is backed by a two year international guarantee.
